 Ultrasonic Motor

Balancing the distinguished optical assets is the Dual Nano USM system that uses a ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) and STM mechanism to provide fast, accurate, and nearly silent autofocus performance for both still and video shooters. You also get full-time manual-focus override for precision adjustments when working in one-shot autofocus mode.

 Optical Image Stabilization

The RF 70-200mm f/2.8L’s built-in image stabilizer system helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by five stops to better enable working in low-light conditions. There are three stabilization modes, each of which suits a different purpose: a standard single-shot mode, a panning-optimized mode, and a mode that only activates the stabilizer during the exposure.

 Configurable Control Ring

This 70-200mm RF mount L-series lens features a special tactile control ring on the barrel of the lens ring for intuitively adjusting exposure settings, including ISO, aperture, and exposure compensation, from the lens itself. Rotation clicks give you the sensory cue needed to make these settings changes while composing your shot. You can also change the direction of manual focus control for the focusing ring.

High-Quality Build

As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens boasts an extensive dust and moisture sealing that allows it to be used in a variety of shooting conditions. Protective fluorine coating has been applied to the front and rear element to resist fingerprints and smudges and to make cleaning these elements significantly easier. Removable rotating tripod collar is included and benefits working with the lens atop a tripod or monopod.
