Characterized by its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens is adept at working in low-light conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for selective focus control. Its nine-blade curved aperture makes for smooth out-of-focus highlights. 

Stepping Autofocus Motor
Benefitting the optical assets, this lens also sports a stepping AF motor for quick, quiet, and smooth focusing performance that suits both still photography as well as video applications. 

Advanced Optics
This lens’s thirteen-group/sixteen-element optical design includes three “F” Low-Dispersion elements, two Super Low-Dispersion elements, and two molded aspherical elements to help produce excellent sharpness, color accuracy, and clarity while minimizing aberrations and fringing. Individual elements also feature a Super Multi-Layer Coating to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. This all makes for a highly versatile lens that’s been designed from the ground up for crop-frame shooters.

The Sigma 16mm’s Thermally Stable Composite build is dust- and splash-resistant, so that you can use it in adverse conditions. The bayonet mount is constructed from brass for ensured accuracy and durability.

• Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Lens is designed specifically for Sony E mount cameras with APS-C sized sensors, like the Sony a6500 (it can also be paired with full frame cameras, like the Sony a7R III when in crop mode). This lens is compatible with Sony E mount cameras in crop sensor only. The focal length equivalent for 35mm format is 24mm.

• It is not compatible with Sony a7 series cameras unless in crop sensor mode.

• This lens is well suited for landscapes, cityscapes, night sky shooting and interiors.
